Beach Access Issues
OPS is promoting an improved beach access path or stairway at the Symons Scenic Viewpoint, across Highway 131 from the present sewage treatment plant. OPS board member Bob Carter has been in contact with the Cape Lookout office of Oregon State Parks, which holds the land between the beach and the highway right of way. As a result, it now appears that Oregon State Parks will do this work at its expense, as part of its scheduled maintenance projects this winter. This should make access to this part of the beach easier and safer, and thus extend the easily accessible beach area south to The Capes. This could take pressure off the beach by the Oceanside Wayside Park.
